Getting started

Once you have a membership you can access the Rec Centre as often as you like. We have a few rules and guidelines, so please note:

  • Please carry and use a workout towel to improve equipment hygiene
  • Wear closed-toe footwear for safety around weights
  • No denim; please wear workout clothing for comfort and to prevent damage to equipment
  • Please bring your own padlock, or hire one from reception, to keep your belongings safe in our free lockers

Reaching your goals quickly and safely

Whether you are starting out or a more experienced gym goer looking for some new skills, a fitness consult will help accelerate your training. We recommend everyone starts off with a fitness consult as it gives you the opportunity to learn more about exercise, and how you can get the most out of your training. 

A fitness consult consists of two sessions one-on-one with a fitness instructor. In your first session you'll work with an instructor to set goals and we'll take some baseline measurements (if you want them). We'll work on your exercise plan and a few days later we'll meet again for a second session to take you through it, helping you perfect your technique and set you up for training

UoA Students: $15 (first consult and plan is FREE)
Everyone else: $35
