What we do

Student Disability Services provides support for students with a wide range of impairments, both visible and invisible, to succeed and excel at the University.

We offer a broad array of services and can help you tailor solutions to make studying at the University an accessible and positive experience.

Who do we support?

We support students with a wide range of visible and invisible impairments, including:

  • Blind and low vision
  • Deaf and hearing impaired
  • Head injury
  • Ongoing medical conditions
  • Diagnosed mental health conditions
  • Physical/Mobility impairments
  • Speech impairments
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Specific learning disabilities (e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia)

Some limited support is available for students who have temporary impairments and injuries. This support varies depending on the impact of the injury.

How do we support students with disabilities?

We tailor our support to suit each individual student. This might include arranging a note taker, disability parking and more. More information is available on our Current students page.

Student Disability Services

Student Disability Services have a variety of staff on hand to help you achieve your academic potential.

Student Disability Coordinators

The Student Disability Coordinators are your first point of contact if you need to access Student Disability Services or our resources.

If you are a student living with an impairment, if you suspect that you have an impairment, or if you are a staff member wanting support and information in working with people with disabilities or impairments, contact our Student Disability Coordinators. They will assist you in accessing services and resources or put you in touch with the right people to help.

Mental Health Advisers

Kim Spain and Anne-Marie Keenan are the student Mental Health Advisers. Students with mental health disabilities or illness do not need a referral to see them.
