About Auckland Advantage™

We have put together a package of support services to help you achieve your goals, including support while you study, your future career, and preparing you for living and studying on campus in Auckland.

Auckland AdvantageTM is only for international students studying online with the University of Auckland outside of New Zealand. #AucklandAdvantage

International students are a vital part of Auckland’s community, of our whānau. We know this is a challenging era and that times are uncertain.

As we wait to be reunited with those students who are currently overseas, we want to share a message of manaakitanga, of respect, aroha and support to all of our international students. These are difficult times but we will get through this together. #TūNgātahi

Study support

Free undergraduate course

We understand that starting your studies with us from outside of New Zealand brings unique challenges.

To support you in reaching your educational goals, we are offering one free course after you complete 120 points at undergraduate level (including honours) while studying online overseas or at a University of Auckland China Learning Centre.

You do not need to take any action. We will determine your eligibility and apply a tuition fee waiver for your free course.

Explore our range of courses: Find a study option

Eligibility

To be eligible for the one free course you must be an international student and have completed 120 points at undergraduate level (including honours) from or after Semester Two 2020 while studying online from outside New Zealand due to Covid-19 border restrictions.

Study Abroad and Exchange students are not eligible for the free course.

If you were studying online from overseas in Semester One 2020, you were eligible for our free Summer School course and other benefits so will not be eligible for this free course.

You must redeem the tuition fee waiver within two semesters of completing 120 points and can only claim it once. We will apply the waiver to your least expensive course in the subsequent semester.

See the Auckland AdvantageTM terms and conditions for more details.

Lower costs for overseas online study

While you are studying online from overseas, we will charge only 50% of the compulsory Student Services Fee, a savings of about NZD$240 for one semester of full-time online study.

The University will credit the 15% GST for International students who study online offshore and do not enter New Zealand during that term of study (Semester, Quarter, or Summer School term).

See the Auckland AdvantageTM terms and conditions for more details.

During your studies you will be able to connect with a Study Buddy - a real person who can answer any questions you have about studying with the University of Auckland. From how to access Canvas to managing your timetable, your Study Buddy is ready to help you.
