University of Auckand Waka Moana and Vaka Moana Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to Māori and Pacific students from low socio-economic areas attending university for the first time.

Value

The Scholarship includes a guaranteed place in a Hall of Residence and will cover the costs of catered accommodation in a standard room, up to a value of $15,500.

Our accommodation teams understand that transitioning from secondary school or kura to University can be an overwhelming experience, which is why all our our first-year halls offer a safe and supportive environment to guide you through the first year.

You will need to complete a separate application to the Accommodation Portal for either University Hall - Towers, O'Rorke Hall, Grafton Hall or Waipārūrū Hall.

Each Hall offers catering, your own room, a range of activities and events, academic mentoring programmes and pastoral care.

Other benefits

As part of your accommodation you get free membership to the University Recreation facilities on the City Campus, including access to a wide range of group fitness classes, weights and cardio equipment.

The Scholarship also provides a laptop, supplied by the University of Auckland, which is yours to keep.
