We have collated various global opportunities that we are aware of, although we don’t support them directly, which you may be interested in, including  independent study programmes, scholarships and awards, international summits and more.

International Summer Schools

Note, the following summer schools are available through partner institutions however they are not available through exchange. Full fees must be paid by participating students directly to the host institution. StudyLink is not available to support direct enrol experiences overseas, and applications for credit assessment should be discussed with the Faculty/Programme advisor, before an AS-15 form is submitted.

Schwarzman Scholars - 2024 Applications Open Now!

Schwarzman Scholars is a one-year, fully-funded master’s programme at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The programme is designed to build a global community of future leaders who will serve to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world. The U.S./Global* application will close at 11:59 PM EDT on September 19, 2023 (3:59 PM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in NZ). 

*Passport holders from Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao must apply by 20 May 2023. 

DAAD

The German Academic Exchange Service offers different international programmes and scholarships to students interested in studying in Germany, whether or not you are currently studying German at UoA. Please contact Mareike Schmidt, German Language Study Abroad Advisor and NZ DAAD representative, for additional information.

Scholarships and awards

Vice-Chancellor's Student Support Fund

High performing students representing the University of Auckland or New Zealand may be able to apply for financial assistance through the Vice-Chancellor’s Student Support Fund. This fund encourages these opportunities by offering financial assistance to those who are achieving at the highest levels, in areas including (but not limited to) art, dance, debating, music, robotics and theatrics.

Census of the French Scientific Community in New Zealand

There are many scholarships and grants available for students looking to study French and or study in France through the Census of the French Scientific Community in New Zealand.

Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA)

SIPGA supports short-term research attachments for top international students at A*STAR, giving you the unique opportunity to experience the vibrant scientific environment in A*STAR Research Institutes and Consortia, and work with distinguished and world-renowned researchers. This award is eligible for students who are pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees.

Travel registration

All University of Auckland students taking part in a University-student travel activity abroad are required to register their travel through the Student International Travel Registration Form, prior to departure from New Zealand. This may include some of the opportunities listed above, if you will be participating in them while still a student of the University.

The University of Auckland also provides international travel insurance to current students travelling overseas on approved University student activities, which meet the conditions for eligibility of coverage under the University Student Activity Travel Terms and Conditions.
