Explore research opportunities abroad through 360 International.
Update August 2021: Due to the ongoing pandemic and resulting ban on international staff and student-activity travel, we are not able to support overseas programmes at this time. Our partners and providers we work with are however offering several virtual programmes, including customised group programmes, intercultural programmes, leadership challenges and short courses, which offer a great opportunity to still add new skills and an international dimension to your CV. For more information on current programmes open for applications, check out our virtual opportunities.
University of Auckland students, especially postgraduate students, benefit from opportunities to gain valuable experience carrying out research overseas.
University of Alberta Research Experience (UARE)
The University of Alberta Research Experience is a research internship programme allowing top senior undergraduate students from key partner universities to conduct research at the University of Alberta in Canada under the supervision of faculty members who are experts in their field. There are two sessions for this 12-week placement. The UARE winter session typically takes place during January to March, and the UARE summer session typically takes place during May to July or July to September.
Students gain practical research experience in their academic discipline and receive a stipend of CAD$6,000 to assist with costs. You must apply directly to the University of Alberta. If admitted, you need to register your participation and travel details with 360 International. More information can be found at the University of Alberta Research Experience.
Postgraduate Research Student Support (PReSS)
Doctoral students are given an annual research fund and account to assist with their study. The stipend is intended to help cover direct research costs. The amount is dependent on the subject area. Some funding may be used for overseas conferences.
