“Since being able to get back on campus, I have been delighted with how easy it has been to get to know people and make new connections.”

“The University of Auckland was an easy choice for me. I didn’t feel the need to look anywhere else because the University of Auckland is considered one of the best universities in the country. It is a melting pot of ideas, inspiration and culture. Everyone’s drawn to it.

“My parents have always pushed me to look to the future and be open to all opportunities – they are both one of my biggest inspirations. It is for that reason that during my lifetime I want to try so many careers. I want to go into property development or law, then open a bar and much later work for the UN. I love travel and would love to incorporate that as much as possible into my career choices.”

“University of Auckland offers such great clubs and events. They
encourage you to really get the most out of your university experience.”

“I found it was easier to focus on my studies when I didn’t have to worry about trying to navigate campus or the Canvas and Kāhu app, which are both vital for the uni experience. Thankfully at Summer Start the guides gave us all the tips and tricks, which I won’t give away as you should definitely come find them for yourself.

“I’m currently in my first year, and one of my biggest fears after coming out of lockdown was not being able to meet people, especially after coming from such a small school. Since being able to get back on campus, I have been delighted with how easy it has been to get to know people and make new connections.

“The most valuable lesson I have been taught is the importance of time management. It has been something I have always been terrible with but with varying different commitments and all different due dates it is something I am quickly adapting to improve.

“I learnt very quickly that saying yes to more things is so important. Seize the opportunities offered it will either go great and you will have a great time and make valuable connections, or you will have learnt an important lesson and will have a great story for your friends.”
