Professor Jemaima Tiatia-Siau, BA MA DPH PhD

Jemaima is of Samoan heritage and is currently the Head of School for Te Wānanga o Waipapa, School of Māori Studies and Pacific Studies. She holds various governance positions, including as a board member for the inaugural Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission, and as a member of the Health Research Council’s Public Health Research Committee.

Key responsibilities

The Pro-Vice Chancellor Pacific’s key responsibilities include:

  • To implement the University’s strategy concerning Pacific staff and students, issues and communities.
  • To advise the Vice-Chancellor and senior leadership team on Pacific peoples, communities and the Pacific region.
  • To lead and support relationships between the University and Pacific staff, students, communities and the Pacific organizations.
  • To lead the University’s engagement and relationships with majority Pacific high schools, with the support of the Schools Partnership Office.

 Jemaima is also responsible for the Fale Pasifika complex.
