Staff with Disabilities Policy


Introduction


The University has statutory responsibilities to provide reasonable support to people with disabilities and to remove or reduce barriers to their participation in performing their roles as valued members of this community.

Application


This policies applies to all staff members at the University.

Purpose


This policy aims to ensure that the University is an inclusive environment for staff with disabilities. This includes providing equitable employment terms and conditions and complying with statutory obligations to provide reasonable accommodation of disabilities.

Policy


  1. The University is committed to equitable employment for staff with disabilities and impairments
  2. The University will recruit and retain high performing staff, and is committed to including staff with disabilities
  3. The University will ensure an inclusive and accessible environment

Definitions


The following definitions apply to this policy:

Disabilities refers to staff who are

  • blind or Deaf
  • with hearing or vision impairments
  • with impairment due to head injury
  • medical conditions
  • mental health conditions
  • with physical or mobility impairments
  • learning disabilities
  • staff with speech impairments

Staff member means an individual who works full time or part time under an offer of employment and has recognised rights and duties

University means the University of Aucklnad and includes all subsidiaries
