UBIQ bookstore in liquidation
Updated Tuesday 8 July 2025
The University of Auckland has been notified that UBIQ – the independently owned and operated bookstore on our City Campus – was put into liquidation on Wednesday 2 July. The bookstore is expected to remain open for the start of Semester Two until Sunday 31 August.
The University is working closely with the UBIQ liquidator with a view to minimising disruptions for staff and students. This includes:
- Honouring valid UBIQ gift vouchers so they can still be redeemed by staff and students with an appropriate UoA student or staff ID during the liquidation trading period, up until 31 August.
- Ensuring students receive their prepaid books and maintain access to required materials during the first six weeks of Semester Two.
- Providing rent-free occupancy support for July and August to keep the bookstore open until 31 August.
UBIQ and the Liquidator appreciate the University’s ongoing commitment to student welfare and trust that these measures will provide a practical and equitable solution during this transitional period.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
