Counselling Support Services

For additional support, there are a range of options both within and external to the University that can be accessed:

  • For immediate assistance via text or phone, contact 1737, a free 24/7 counselling service
  • For immediate assistance via chat or phone, contact Safe to Talk, a free 24/7 help service specialising in sexual harm
  • For assistance with online bullying, harassment and discrimination call Netsafe on 0508 638 723
  • Students in University Accommodation, can contact Resident Advisor or Managers on site.
  • The University also provides access to phone counselling 7 days a week between the hours of 9am-9pm, via Puawaitanga

Summer hours

When open over the summer break, Epsom and Grafton clinics will operate at their normal business hours. For the months of December, January and February, the City Campus clinic will be open from 8.30am-5pm with normal business hours resuming at the start of Semester One 2020 (2 March 2020).

We are located in the Kate Edger Information Commons, on the University's City Campus.

Standard hours:
Monday: 8.30am to 6pm
Tuesday: 8.30am to 6pm (see note below)
Wednesday: 8.30am to 7.30pm
Thursday: 8.30am to 6pm
Friday: 8.30am to 4.30pm

These clinics have variable opening hours throughout the semester, and occasionally close during holidays.

  • Counsellor available Monday and Thursday 9am - 3pm.

Grafton campus

Standard opening hours at the Grafton campus clinic are 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday:

  • Counselling appointments are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Book online as above or call 0800 698 427 - 0800 MY UHCS for a duty or academic slot.

Tai Tokerau Campus

  • The University offers free counseling services to students through Family Works.
  • To arrange an appointment, please contact Family Works and indicate you are a University of Auckland student.
  • You will need to show your student ID card at your appointment.
