Leah Marsh

Leah’s home university is the University of Delaware in the USA, where she is part of the World Scholars Program.

“I am a first year student, and this was my first semester of university ever! My home university in Delaware offered four countries of travel for the World Scholars Program – Greece, Italy, Spain, and New Zealand. I chose New Zealand because I thought it would be the most unique experience, and one that I may not be offered again. I am more than content with my decision to study at the University of Auckland for this semester, as this has been some of the best time I’ve ever spent.”

Studying abroad will help to broaden my global mindset, and strengthen weaknesses I didn’t even know I had.

“The University is so diverse, especially compared to my hometown. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know people from so many different walks of life. I have made friends from all over the world in these few past months – from Thailand, South Africa, England, Norway, and so many other unique places that I previously knew little about.

“In the future I hope to pursue a career in the fashion industry. Studying abroad will help to broaden my global mindset, and strengthen weaknesses I didn’t even know I had. Travelling and studying overseas will help me understand other cultures, what their fashion trends are, and what they look for in clothing.

“I definitely recommend studying at the University of Auckland. I have met such genuine people, attended events that I never would have imagined, visited so many unique places and made memories that will last a lifetime. If you do study here, I suggest you integrate with Kiwis as much as possible and learn about their way of life. It is very intriguing to see how differently people go about life.”
