Find out how to apply to the Study Abroad and Exchange programmes at the University of Auckland, and the deadlines for submitting your application.

Applying for Exchange

Our Exchange programme is available to students who are currently enrolled at one of our 120 exchange partner universities. If your home university does not have a formal exchange agreement with the University of Auckland, please scroll down to learn about applying for our Study Abroad programme.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for our Exchange programme, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled at one of our exchange partner universities
  • Be nominated for exchange by your home university
  • Meet our English language requirements
  • Have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent

How to apply

You must first apply for exchange with your home university. Once we receive your nomination, we will send you an invitation to apply to the University of Auckland. You will be required to upload the following documents with your application:

  • Certified copy of your passport or birth certificate
  • Current copy of your university transcript
  • Evidence of English proficiency (if applicable, see application guide)

Applying for Study Abroad

If your home university does not have a formal exchange agreement with the University of Auckland, you can apply for our Study Abroad programme. Students can apply for this programme independently, or through one of the universities, agents, or study abroad providers that we have partnered with.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for our Study Abroad programme, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled at an accredited tertiary institution
  • Meet our English language requirements
  • Have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent

How to apply

If you are applying through one of our study abroad partners, they may submit an application on your behalf. Please check with them before applying through our website. If you are applying independently, or have been instructed to complete an application, please refer to the guide below and make sure to upload the following documents:

  • Certified copy of your passport or birth certificate
  • Current copy of your university transcript
  • Evidence of English proficiency (if applicable, see application guide)
  • First year students may be required to submit their secondary qualification and/or a recommendation letter
