How do I become a registered psychologist?
To be registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board, you need a minimum of a masters degree in Psychology, as well as a 1500-hour internship.

At the University of Auckland, we have four accredited programmes:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Health Psychology
- Master of Behaviour Analysis and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology (Applied Behaviour Analysis specialisation)
- Doctor of Clinical Psychology
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PGDipClinPsych)

Further entry requirements
Grade Point Average
The minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) required for admission to most postgraduate programmes in Psychology is 5.0 and a major in Psychology from the qualifying programme, or a GPA of 5.0 across 60 points above Stage II and a major in Psychology in the qualifying programme.
There are limited places in most of these programmes and due to the large number of applicants, the Honours entry GPA is typically around 7.0 or higher.

Research Methods in Psychology
If you wish to undertake a postgraduate Psychology programme at the University of Auckland (excluding PGDipSci), you must have completed PSYCH 208 Producing Psychological Knowledge or PSYCH 306 Research Methods, or equivalent from another university in their undergraduate programme.
