International Orientation
Join us for international students' orientation to get the best start to your University of Auckland experience.
2025 Orientation
Orientation is a great way to familiarise yourself with your new study environment and place of living. The University's Orientation Weeks are held in the week prior to the start of the semester.
Semester Two: 16-17 July 2025
As a new international you are encouraged to attend International Orientation and your respective Postgraduate or Undergraduate Orientation during that week to set you up with the best possible start to your study experience in Aotearoa New Zealand.
International Orientation - Semester Two
We recommend to arrive in Auckland in time to attennd International Orientation on Wednesday 16 July. The interactive information sessions will give you a great start to your overseas study exoerience and help you navigate Auckland and the University. We will cover:
- Visas and insurance
- Support available for our students
- Living in Auckland and New Zealand
- Staying safe during your time here

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Orientation
No matter if you are an undergrdaute or potgraduate student, we advise you to attend the International Orientation event and your respective undergraduate or postgradaute orientation. These events cover different topics related to your particular degree and faculty.
International Doctoral Candidates' orientation
There is a lot to think about when embarking on your PhD journey, not only academically but also setting up your life in Aotearoa New Zealand.
It is compulsory to attend the in-person Doctoral Induction, held by the School of Graduate Studies, within the first two months of your enrolment start. We recommend you attend as soon as possible.
At the end of each Doctoral Induction, you are encouraged to stay for an additional information session tailored for international candidates.

Quarter intakes for Business Masters students
If you are starting your studies with us in one of the masters degrees at our Business School in Quarters Two or Four, please refer to the communication from the team at the Graduate School of Management.
