Transnational Education

Models of transnational education collaboration with the University of Auckland

The University of Auckland is actively engaging with the development of the following models of transnational education (TNE) collaboration. The majority of these models are formalised credit transfer arrangements with partner universities overseas, whereby the University effectively gives an assurance that students reaching certain standards will be permitted to transfer credit to specified programmes at the University of Auckland.

Dual masters (DMAs)

Students undertake coursework requirements for their masters study at an overseas partner university and then undertake a one-year taught or research masters study at the University of Auckland. Successful candidates would graduate with masters degrees from both the home university and the University of Auckland.

Undergraduate articulation

Students complete an agreed number of years of bachelors study at an overseas partner university and, upon meeting academic and language requirements, receive direct entry into the University of Auckland bachelors study with recognised credits. Successful candidates would graduate with bachelors degrees from both the home university and the University of Auckland.

Postgraduate articulation

Students complete an agreed number of years of bachelors study at an overseas partner university and, upon meeting academic and language requirements, receive guaranteed entry into the University of Auckland master’s study. Successful candidates would graduate with a bachelors degree from the home university and masters degree from the University of Auckland.

Foundation/pathway

Students complete foundation study at an overseas partner institution and receive guaranteed entry into the University of Auckland bachelors degree. No credit can be transferred into the University of Auckland bachelors degree.

Offshore joint programmes
