Join the Velocity Committee
Join the team of students led by a student CEO that runs the Velocity programme each year.

About the programme
Develop transferable skills, build connections, and make a real impact with Velocity.
As a member of the Velocity Committee, you will develop sought-after skills, gain leadership experience, and contribute to one of the University’s most celebrated initiatives.
Each year, around 30 students join the committee, becoming part of a legacy that has been positively impacting Auckland, Aotearoa, and the world for over 20 years. No matter your background, expertise, or faculty, we want you to be part of the team.
CIE’s programmes are free for University of Auckland students and staff. While there are no formal assessments, participation may count towards the co-curricular recognition programme and the Distinguished Graduate Award.

What's involved
The Velocity Committee is organised into subteams, each focusing on specific components of Velocity but united by a shared purpose: creating a world-class programme.
Each subteam has one or two leads who, alongside the CEO and COO, ensure the smooth delivery of the programme, focusing on areas ranging from marketing to outreach, events, and challenges.
Where could you belong?
Challenges
This team is responsible for the planning and execution of Velocity’s flagship competitions and events, including the Ideas Challenge and $100k Challenge. You'll manage logistics, coordinate stakeholders, work to a budget, and ensure students are supported throughout their journey.
Marketing
This team leads all things branding and communication. From graphics to reels and full campaigns, you'll develop creative content that tells the Velocity story and drives student engagement. You’ll also manage our presence across digital and physical platforms, keeping the brand sharp and consistent.
Outreach
This team builds connections with faculties, student clubs, and communities across the university and beyond. They hold workshops and initiatives aimed at engaging a diverse range of students, especially those who may not yet see themselves as part of the innovation space, and work to ensure everyone feels welcomed, included, and empowered to get involved.
Postgraduate
This team champions postgraduate engagement across Velocity. You'll design initiatives that connect university postgraduate students with the entrepreneurship ecosystem, tailoring initiatives and marketing to their unique experiences and ambitions. You’ll ensure that postgraduate voices are heard, supported, and empowered to translate their research, expertise, and ideas into real-world impact.
