Undergraduate and postgraduate students can apply as a group for accommodation at Carlaw Park Student Village or Stuart McCutcheon House. 

Each applicant must submit their own accommodation application before creating or joining a group. Please note, the group creation and management process is only available on the Accommodation portal between 1 August – 15 September. One round of group offers will be made in late September. 

Step 1: Submit your individual application

Every member of the group must complete and submit an individual accommodation application for the same residence. Your application can be for any 2027 length term: Semester One only, 42 week academic year or a 52 week full year.

Once your application has been submitted, the groups tab will then appear in the Accommodation Portal.

Step 2: Create your group

One applicant should create the group and become the Group Leader.

The Group Leader will:

• Create a group name (please be respectful).
• Set a group password.
• Select the intended group size.

They should then share the group name and password with the people they wish to live with.

Step 3: Join the group

Other applicants can join the group by logging into the Accommodation Portal and entering the group name and password.

Step 4: Manage your group

Groups are managed by applicants. The Group Leader can:

• Update the group size.
• Change the group password.
• Remove members from the group.
• Nominate a new Group Leader.

Group members can remove themselves from a group and/or join another group at any time between 1 August – 15 September.

All groups should be finalised by 15 September 2026.

Residences and apartment sizes available for group applications:

Accommodation offers will be made to each applicant individually in late September. If all members of your group receive and accept an accommodation offer, we will allocate your group to live together.

Please note, applying as a group does not guarantee:

• an apartment exclusively for your group; or
• an apartment with the same number of bedrooms as your group.

For example, a group of four may be allocated to a four or five-bedroom apartment and share with another group or individual residents. Likewise, a group of two may be allocated to a three, four or five-bedroom apartment.

We will always aim to match your group to the most suitable apartment available, but this cannot be guaranteed and will depend on availability.

Eligibility

• Entry is open to current University of Auckland students who are eligible to apply as a returning resident for University of Auckland Accommodation in2027.
• Entrants must submit a completed 2027 Accommodation Application by 11.59pm NZST on 15 September 2026 and be in a validated Group.
• Only one entry per eligible student will be accepted.

Prize Draw

• Eligible entries will automatically be entered into the prize draw.
• The prize draw will be conducted after the application closing date.
• Winners will be selected at random.

Prizes

The following prizes are available:

• 1 × Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle
• 2 × Apple AirPods 4
• 10 × $30 Uber Eats vouchers

Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

Notification

• Winners will be contacted using their University of Auckland email address.
• If a winner cannot be contacted within seven days, or declines the prize, Accommodation Solutions reserves the right to redraw the prize.

General

• Accommodation Solutions reserves the right to verify eligibility before awarding a prize.
• Accommodation Solutions may substitute a prize with another of equal or greater value if a listed prize becomes unavailable.
• By entering the promotion, winners agree to their first name and residence (or intended residence) being used for promotional purposes by the University of Auckland, unless they request otherwise.
• Accommodation Solutions reserves the right to amend or cancel the promotion where necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.
