Health Education and Promotion

Overview

A pathway in health education and promotion will develop your knowledge of population health, such as the factors that influence people’s health and provide the skills needed to improve and manage the health of people in communities. This includes courses that will enable you to develop an in-depth knowledge of how contemporary health issues, such as mental health, sexual health, alcohol, drugs and obesity, affect people in Aotearoa New Zealand.  

Areas of study

To complement your health education and promotion focus you can choose from a range of courses across different disciplines to make up your sport, health and physical education degree. Other pathways that complement this subject include sport leadership and coaching, sport science, health and physical education, and dance.
