The Auckland Museum Institute Postgraduate Scholarship Programme

The 2024 scholarships are a personal stipend for students currently enrolled in a fulltime research-based Masters or PhD at a New Zealand tertiary institution, valued at $5000 and designed to help to support a piece of research lasting up to 12 months in an area that is relevant to the Museum’s collections and/or practices.

Auckland Museum - James Fawcett Postgraduate Research Awards

The James Fawcett Herpetological Research Fund seeks to support emerging herpetological researchers in Aotearoa New Zealand for applied and theoretical research on tuatara and/or native New Zealand skinks and geckos. Awards of up to $5,000 are available.

Auckland Museum - The Sir Hugh Kawharu Scholarship

The $10,000 grant is open to any students of Māori descent, who are studying full-time at undergraduate or graduate level at a New Zealand university or wānanga, and have an interest in cultural heritage. The purpose of the scholarship is to support and encourage Māori research and leadership, particularly in the field of cultural heritage.

In addition to the grant, the successful recipient could receive the benefit of an academic mentor for the duration of the candidate’s studies. It is anticipated that the scholarship candidate will undertake a research project in an area of relevance to the Museum's collections which will form part of their studies and contribute to the completion of their degree.

Perpetual Guardian Foundation administered scholarship for School of Medicine

Kate Sheppard Memorial Award

The Kate Sheppard Memorial Award Trust was set up to establish an annual award to provide an opportunity for a woman to develop her potential by undertaking further education, study, research or training in areas which are of value in the community of New Zealand.

BCG First Nations Internship & Scholarship Program
