Does Incorporation ensure Irresponsibility?
The NZ Centre for Legal and Political Theory and the University of Auckland School of Law are pleased to invite you to the 2026 Theory Matters Lecture.
Corporations are often blamed for breaching standards of social responsibility that they officially endorse. But many regular corporations are unfit to be held responsible to such norms: they simply lack the capacity to comply. This argues, not for excusing corporate offenders, but for supporting the standards in law.
About the speaker: Professor Philip Pettit is L.S.Rockefeller University Professor of Human Values in Princeton University and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University.
