Document Description: This essay assessed the measures taken by the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to protect children from involvement in armed conflict using a model of human rights reform. Inadequate judicial systems, policies, and legislation were diagnosed as hindering the DRC’s protection measures. This essay recommended that NGOs and other states work with the DRC to end the recruitment of child soldiers by increasing the DRC’s capacity to protect children’s rights.
