Columbia University’s Indigenous Studies Summer Program

Since 2020, Auckland Law School has each year supported an Auckland Law School student (Part III and above) to attend Columbia University’s Indigenous Studies Summer Program on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Policy (ISSP) in May and/or June in New York City, USA. The Program is an intensive immersion program that provides an overview and analysis of the major questions in Indigenous affairs today and as they have emerged globally in the last decades.

The program has an interdisciplinary approach and incorporates lectures and workshops on the most recent and innovative academic research and policy debates on Indigenous peoples’ issues. Columbia University faculty, Indigenous and other experts and UN representatives deliver the academic lectures and workshops and are available for discussions and consultations with the participants throughout the duration of the programme.

Keep an eye on the Auckland Law School website Scholarships page for information on how to apply for this scholarship. It is usually advertised early in the academic year. For more information contact lawgroupservices@auckland.ac.nz.
