Juris Doctor

The University of Auckland, Auckland Law School, currently ranked 59th by Subject in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, will be launching a new programme, the first of its kind in New Zealand – the Juris Doctor.

The programme that is open to non-law degree holders is set to commence in February 2027 and applications to enrolments are expected to be open later this year.

Programme overview

This three year postgraduate degree in law will offer students who have completed an undergraduate degree outside of law to pursue a legal career or gain expertise in this area to support their existing knowledge. 

International students who have completed a Bachelor of Laws in other countries can also apply to this programme.

This will not be open to Bachelor of Laws graduates from New Zealand.
