With universities and Indigenous law centres globally

Our relationships with universities and Indigenous law centres globally range from the formal, such as our teaching and student exchanges with the University of Arizona’s Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Programme and with the University of British Columbia, which also includes a research partnership. We hosted a University of Melbourne “visiting subject” in 2022 where a group of students participated in a seminar on Māori legal issues and visited marae, the Waitangi Tribunal and with Māori judges.

Of especial note, Auckland Law School partners with Columbia University and the University of British Columbia to run the annual Indigenous Studies Summer Program on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Policy hosted by Columbia University, and we have a guaranteed place for a University of Auckland student to participate.
