Welcome from the Dean
Professor Robert Greenberg offers you a warm welcome to the home of the humanities, social sciences, languages and Indigenous studies at New Zealand's leading university.
As Dean of this outstanding faculty I take great pride in the excellence of our research, our comprehensive study offerings and the inclusive environment we provide for our diverse community of students and staff.
Our faculty has a distinctive character shaped by our location in Aotearoa New Zealand, within the setting of the South Pacific. Located in the heart of multicultural Auckland, Tamaki Mākaurau, we are enriched by the presence of Ngāti Whātua Orākei, the people of this place on whose land we stand.
The local context of Aotearoa New Zealand anchors a strongly international focus. We stand tall among our international peers, and are consistently ranked among the world's top 50 arts faculties by the QS World University Rankings.
We are committed to preparing our students for global citizenship within a framework of engagement with our unique local context and an appreciation of Māori and Pacific cultures and worldviews.
Whether you are a student, a researcher, a visitor or friend, my hope is that we can make a difference to your experience of the world.
