The project seeks to improve opportunities for participation and success in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) for Māori, Pacific and female students at high school. It utilises a proven and tested intervention model, the Learning Schools Model to increase opportunities for Māori, Pacific and female students to participate in and have success in STEM. The research team will work alongside schools, students and their communities to:

· identify current opportunities to participate in and be successful in STEM
· understand what promotes participation and success, and
· Implement research-proven strategies that are appropriate to the contexts of the schools and communities

This project is a collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering who are also supporting it with philanthropic funding secured through its donor networks.
