Submit a statement of research intent

If you plan to enrol in the programmes listed, you need to submit a Statement of Research Intent before you start.

A Statment of Research Intent (SoRI) is required as it outlines the subject, scope, and approach to the research you wish to undertake, and helps determine whether supervision is available for your intended research. Additionally, it is required to formalise your enrolment in a research course.

For more information, see How do I enrol into my Thesis, Research Portfolio, Dissertation, or Research Project?

Once a supervisor is contacted and the research topic is discussed, you can submit a Statement of Research Intent. Find a supervisor through their Discovery profiles.

The Statement of Research Intent can be saved as work-in-progress. The completed form must be submitted at least 10 working days (two weeks) before the start of the semester in which you plan to enrol in your research course.

Access your saved statement here.

The outcome of your Statement of Research Intent will be available within approximately 10 working days (two weeks) from the time of submission.

For further information about the research component of your programme, please see the Guide to Theses, Research Portfolios, Dissertations, or Research Projects.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your supervisor, visit a Student Hub or email
