Submit a statement of research intent

Some postgraduate programmes require you to submit a Statement of Research Intent before you start.

A Statment of Research Intent (SoRI) is required as it outlines the subject, scope, and approach to the research you wish to undertake, and helps determine whether supervision is available for your intended research. Additionally, it is required to formalise your enrolment in a research course.

Once a supervisor is contacted and the research topic is discussed, you can submit a Statement of Research Intent. Find a supervisor through their Staff profiles.

The Statement of Research Intent can be saved as work-in-progress. The completed form must be submitted at least 10 working days (two weeks) before the start of the semester in which you plan to enrol in your research course.

Access your statement status (including saved).

The outcome of your Statement of Research Intent will be available within approximately 10 working days (two weeks) from the time of submission. Note: Email communications may be in your junk or spam folder. Please check those folders regularly for any updates about your SoRI.
