Māori and Indigenous Education
Māori and Indigenous Education, a discipline within the School of Education and Social Practice, focuses on education and teacher education underpinned by tikanga, te reo and mātauranga Māori.
We have a national and international reputation in the study of Māori education, along with its links to Indigenous education worldwide.
Our staff and students are committed to the promotion of Māori tikanga (customs), reo (language) and mātauranga (knowledge). We have a Kaupapa Māori (philosophy), which underpins all our research and teaching.
Working in partnership with the Ministry of Education, we provide professional learning support to kura and schools. Find out more at Tui Tuia Learning Circle.
