Support for students through the coronavirus outbreak

Find out where and how to access additional support and care at the faculty and register for upcoming workshops

The Coronavirus, now known as COVID-19, has created great concern for people in China and their friends and families in New Zealand.  The University is doing everything possible to support students who are impacted. Staff at the Faculty of Education and Social Work understand the situation is challenging and potentially stressful and are available to support students and colleagues who are impacted by COVID-19 in any way, whether they are overseas, self-isolating or worried, no matter how large or small the reason may seem.

Students are encouraged to speak with their supervisors, course directors, programme leaders or support staff who are here to listen and support students.

Students who are directly impacted will have a personalised study plan developed or alternative arrangements made and have the support of a dedicated University buddy. Students can also discuss academic support with their course director if they feel that their academic performance is impacted.

The latest updates from the NZ Government and Ministry of Health about COVID-19 and important
information for the wider university Community can be found here

The University Health and Counselling service is also available to all students based in New Zealand at any University Campus.
