“For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with children and help them be the best they can be. To make this a reality, I chose to study the Bachelor of Early Childhood studies as it provides me with many opportunities to be more knowledgeable and learn how to achieve my goal of being a part of a child's early educational journey.

“I’ve really enjoyed learning about New Zealand's early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki, and how to apply its values and principles when working with young children, whānau and the community. Another aspect I am very much enjoying is learning about the development milestones which every child needs to go through to ensure they can be the best they can be in their learning environment. This degree is helping me to lay down the groundwork for understanding young children.

The practical elements present an excellent opportunity to learn so many new things from the teachers and children in each centre.

“Every class I take, I learn something completely new, and this not only shapes me as a person but as a future employee in the early childhood sector as well. I have met many compassionate people in this programme, each of them has a heart of gold. It is an honour to work with lecturers that are so excited and passionate about children and who provide us with a set of knowledge and tools to make a difference one day.

“I am very excited for the practical placements in the programme, particularly the opportunity to get to know the children and learn what makes each one unique. The practical elements present an excellent opportunity to learn so many new things from the teachers and children in each centre. I am excited to form bonds, be part of their community and share their day-to-day life. Children are like sponges; they love learning all kinds of things and they take everything in around them.

“The Bachelor of Early Childhood studies has made a big difference in my life and where I see myself in the future. This degree will benefit anyone interested in various aspects of early childhood education and social contexts for young children from birth to eight. This degree will inspire you to take charge of your future and make your dreams a reality. Not only do you get a chance to study for a remarkable degree, but you will also get the chance to meet and connect with some fantastic people. This is the first step into creating the life you want and the change you want to see one day."
