Moana Phillips - Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Huarahi Māori

Gaining real experience in schools was a highlight for Moana as she prepares to make a difference in education for future generations.

“I decided to study teaching at Tai Tokerau because I wanted to make a difference in children’s learning. The location suited as well, so I could balance being a full-time mother for my own tamariki and a full-time student.

“What I’ve enjoyed most about the Bachelor of Education (Teaching) Huarahi Māori specialisation is the skills we develop and the real experience we get in schools with our practicum placements. It has been great getting real experience in schools, making those connections and creating diverse learning environments with tamariki.

“Studying at Te Tai Tokerau is great! It is a small campus so you get to know everyone making it really easy to discuss learning. After I graduate, I am looking forward to making a difference in education for future generations.

“I would recommend studying at Tai Tokerau to anyone who passionately wants to become a teacher. It will be a challenge, but the learning environment and support here is amazing. Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari, he toa taki tini.”
