Karishma Kumar - Health and PE teacher
The Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary), has set Karishma up for her new job as a Health and PE teacher at Mount Roskill Grammar School.
“I chose to study the Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education because of the many pathways it offers. I knew the flexibility of the programme would allow me to go into any area of the sporting industry that I was interested in.
“I went into the teaching pathway, because PE teaching combines my interest in helping kids with my love of sport perfectly. The highlight of my study has been building relationships with my peers and lecturers."
I’ve loved the combination of theory and practical elements in the programme.
“Through my practical placement at Onehunga High School, I got to experience being in a PE classroom and a health classroom, giving me a chance to spend time in the environment I hope to spend the rest of my life in.
“After finishing my Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education, I studied the one-year Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary). I’m looking forward to starting my new job as a Health and PE teacher at Mount Roskill Grammar School next year.
"One day, I’d love to travel to other countries and teach kids all over the world.”
