Justin-Leigh Manuel – Diploma in Teaching Secondary graduate

“My passion for creativity, arts, and helping rangatahi Māori pursue their dreams led me to a career in secondary school teaching. I completed an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Māori Visual Arts before starting the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary).

“One of the best things about this programme is the practicums. Going to schools to experience teaching first-hand is extremely insightful and has developed my teaching practice. At the end of Semester Two, I was given an opportunity to be a te reo Māori teacher at Auckland Normal Intermediate, and I have secured a full-time job as a visual arts teacher at Rosmini College this year.

“The programme is challenging and engaging, with fantastic teachers, facilities and overall course content. I’ve enjoyed learning alongside likeminded people who are also driven to become teachers. This programme is ideal for anyone who wants to pass on their passions to students through secondary teaching.”
