Māori-medium education
Gain a qualification where you can use tikanga and te reo Māori to make a difference for young learners, iwi, hapū and whānau in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We offer a number of education and teaching study options underpinned by kanga, te reo and mātauranga.
This includes the Huarahi Māori programme which qualifies students to teach in Māori immersion, kura kaupapa and bilingual schools as well as English-medium primary and intermediate schools.
Taught through the school of Te Puna Wānanga - the School of Māori and Indigenous Education, you will learn from staff and students who are committed to the promotion of Māori tikanga (customs), reo (language) and mātauranga (knowledge). We have a Kaupapa Māori kaupapa (philosophy), which underpins all research and teaching.
