"After completing my undergraduate degree, I knew that I wanted to continue studying something that could genuinely make a difference in the world and tackle those massive issues like poverty, inequality and sustainability.

"Having looked at a range of postgraduate programmes such as Indigenous Studies, Public Policy and Sociology, I settled on the BA(Hons) in Development Studies because the interdisciplinary nature of the field meant that this single programme encompassed everything that I had been looking at pursuing.

The beauty of this programme is that with a breadth as wide as what it
has, you are able to research almost anything, which is why I’m marrying my
love for food with my passion for Indigenous rights and looking into Indigenous
food sovereignty for my dissertation. 

"Almost rivalling my love for eating food is the love I have for the stories that food carries, the connection that it facilitates, and the histories that it grows. Going into Development Studies I had no idea that food would even be a relevant research topic, but again that just shows the diverse interests that the programme accommodates.

"The best part of the programme is being able to engage critically in such an intimate environment with peers who are just as passionate as you are! This type of atmosphere that facilitates critical conversation and cross-cultural exchanges is something that really brings a depth to postgraduate study."
