New South Auckland Campus location confirmed

After over 20 years of offering programmes in partnership with Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Auckland is preparing to open a new campus in South Auckland in early 2020.

Located at 6 Osterley Way, the new campus is right in the heart of Manukau.

The creation of the new campus will help strengthen community partnerships and increase study options for communities in South and East Auckland in particular.

The University’s Faculty of Education and Social Work will continue to offer its flagship Bachelor of Education (Teaching) programme at the new South Auckland Campus, with all students moving in to the new central Manukau location when it opens its doors next year.

Year 1 and 2 students currently based at MIT’s Otara campus will be the first to experience this new specialist teaching facility, and will play a strong part in shaping the identity of the campus in the community.

More than 600 graduates have completed their Bachelor of Education (Teaching) as part of the University of Auckland at Manukau Programme, and most continue to work as teachers in South and East Auckland communities.

MIT requires the University of Auckland to vacate the Otara campus by the end of 2019, as it is consolidating operations onto one site (the South campus).
