We all actively participate in a wide array of national and international research and dialogue, regularly contributing to high-level and local events as well as in media, including the New York Times and Guardian

For example:

  • Associate Professor Andrew Erueti has been working with the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission on its intervention in a case stated to the Supreme Court by the government. The issue is the amendability of the 2013 Constitution.

  • UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Professor Charters delivered a statement related to the Deputy Prime Minister’s rejection of the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of Indigenous Peoples’ criticism of the Government’s regressive policies and laws impacting Māori rights (July 2025)
  • Our scholarship tauira whetumarama took a trip to the United States of America to attend the 2025 immersion Program as part of The 2025 International Program on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Policy (May to June 2025)
  • Indigenous Peoples and the United Nations”, seminar organised by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies, Leiden University, as part of its Conference Series on International Criminal Law, Justice and Indigenous Cultures (June 2022)
  • Presentation to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to inform a consultation process and the Implementation of their Right to Water in Domestic legal systems (April 2022).
