Providing support and assistance to our students is a core part of Faculty whakawhanaungatanga.
We understand that the unexpected can happen at any time, and this can impact on the wellbeing of our students and their ability to focus on their studies. Through Tuākana Manaakitanga, we foster whakawhanaungatanga and provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to ask for and receive the support they need.
We can offer immediate, short-term support for all Māori and Pasifika students, and the broader Faculty student body, who are actively enrolled in a Creative Arts and Industries academic programme and facing financial hardship. We can help with your:
- Grocery expenses
- Transportation costs
- Course related materials
- Printing allowances
We can provide information and help with accessing the broader University financial and personal support options available to stuidents. This could include:
- Accommodation costs
- Student emergency fund
- Scholarship opportunities
- Health and counselling
For information, advice, and assistance please feel free to contact our Tuākana Coordinator:

“As a student, I understand the external pressures that come with studying. Bills due, whānau responsibilities, remembering to eat healthily, and sleeping for 8 hours a night. Sometimes the balance just isn't quite right. This is the reality that many students face, which is where Tuākana Manaakitanga can help relieve these external stresses so that you can put your all into your studies.”
