The Confucius Institute

The Confucius Institute in Auckland administers a range of scholarships which offer opportunities to study in China.

Fred and Helen Hanan Endowed Scholarship in Chinese Studies

This scholarship is intended to support a University of Auckland student of exceptional achievement and promise in pursuing academic work in Chinese studies.

The New Zealand-China Educational Trust

The New Zealand China Educational Trust provides a number of awards to students from The University of Auckland who want to undertake Chinese language study in China (including the Hong Kong and Macao SARs, or Taiwan) during the NZ summer vacation.

New Zealand-China Scholarship

Up to 10 scholarships are offered each year for study in China under the New Zealand/China Student Exchange Scheme administered by Confucius Institute on behalf of the China Scholarship Council and NZ Ministry of Education.

The Rewi Alley Scholarship in Modern Chinese Studies

This scholarship is administered by the University of Waikato and designed to encourage study and research on China, preferably in New Zealand.

University of Auckland Languages and Cultures Study Abroad Award

The Award was established in 1996 for the purpose of enabling students of Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish to undertake a period of formal study or internship for credit (minimum of four weeks) in a country where the language is spoken as the first language, thereby providing an opportunity for cultural immersion and first-hand experience of the language, and to provide additional encouragement to pursue study at postgraduate level in languages and literatures. The Award is funded by the Faculty of Arts. 

Zhejiang Sister Province Scholarships

Zhejiang Sister Province Scholarships (ZSPS) offer opportunities for New Zealand students to study in Zhejiang, China for one year.
