French Government Assistantships

Paid teaching positions in France, New Caledonia and Tahiti. National selection based on academic strength, teaching experience and general suitability.

Joan Oliver Award in French

One award of up to $1,000 made annually to the most academically meritorious student undertaking Stage III of a Bachelor of Arts or an honours year in French, taking into account all previous French work examined to date.

Joan Oliver Honours Award in French

One award of up to $1,000 made annually to the most academically meritorious student undertaking an honours year in French, taking into account all previous French work examined in the qualifying degree programme.

Maxwell Walker Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 open to students who intend to proceed to the final year of a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or to a Master of Arts degree in French. Awarded to the student who has displayed the best progress in the preceding year in the study of the French language and literature and who is the most worthy or in need of assistance.

University of Auckland Languages and Cultures Study Abroad Award

The Award was established in 1996 for the purpose of enabling students of Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish to undertake a period of formal study or internship for credit (minimum of four weeks) in a country where the language is spoken as the first language, thereby providing an opportunity for cultural immersion and first-hand experience of the language, and to provide additional encouragement to pursue study at postgraduate level in languages and literatures. The Award is funded by the Faculty of Arts.

One award of up to $1,000 made annually to the most academically meritorious student completing the requirements for the Master of Arts in French, taking into account all work examined over the whole degree.
