Asian History Award

Awarded to the student in the current year who has demonstrated the highest level of commitment to the study of Asian History.

The Auckland Medical History Society Essay Prize

The prize was established in 2016 by the Auckland Medical History Society to recognise and reward the student who has written the most outstanding essay on a subject related to medical history.

Haydon Prize

A prize of $125 awarded annually to the student who has achieved the highest GPA, at any level of study, in courses relating to the history of empire.

Jacob Marx Memorial Prizes in History

Established in 2016, the prizes are funded by Natalie Chung in memory of her partner Jacob Marx. The prizes recognise and reward students who achieve the highest marks in undergraduate History courses at the University of Auckland and display a passion for History.

Awarded annually to an undergraduate student majoring in history who has achieved the highest GPA across two or more courses at any level in Aotearoa New Zealand history.

Awarded annually to an undergraduate student majoring in history who has achieved the highest GPA across two or more courses at any level in Māori history.

Lissie Rathbone Scholarship

The scholarship is to encourage and support undergraduate students in the study of both English and History at Stage II.

Medieval and Early Modern European Studies Scholarship

The Scholarships are funded by the Centre for Medieval and Early Modern European Studies and are intended to assist students embarking on a BA(Hons) or MA in Medieval and Early Modern European Studies.

An annual award of $700 to a student enrolled in a BA(Hons) or MA in a course on New Zealand history.

Nicholas Tarling Prize in History

A prize of $300 awarded to the best student taking history courses at either Stage II or Stage III with a focus on Asia.

Sir Robert Jones Scholarships in History

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage excellence in the study of History. Students must have completed Stage I History courses.

This award, funded by Steve and Susan West, will recognize an honours student majoring in History who has displayed the best overall academic performance in, and commitment to, United States history.

Thomas Jefferson Prize in United States History

This award, funded by the United States Department of State, will honour a senior student majoring in History who has demonstrated the best overall academic performance in and highest level of commitment to US history.

Tony Cotton Memorial Prizes

Two prizes of $200 each awarded annually to the undergraduate or postgraduate students respectively, who have achieved the highest GPA in courses or research in European history. 

Postgraduate

National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy Masters Scholarship

To support a masters student undertaking research in a topic related to developing contemporary knowledge or investigating the social or naval history of the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Steve and Susan West Visiting Scholarship in United States History

This scholarship will support a postgraduate student for up to two months, while they research an aspect of United States history at the University of Texas at Austin.
