Tyler Kini - Bachelor of Education (Teaching)
Studying the Bachelor of Education (Teaching) programme at the Tai Tokerau campus has allowed Tyler to pursue his goals of becoming a teacher.
I have always wanted to study teaching, my dad was a teacher and he has been a huge influence on me. When I moved back to New Zealand after living abroad for a couple of years I decided to take that next step and start my studies at the Tai Tokerau campus.
The practical elements in the programme have been great. I’m a real people person so working in school environments and building relationships with all the staff and students has been really great.
My favourite thing about studying at the Tai Tokerau campus is the amazing students and staff members. Everyone is so supportive, we’re like one big family. You build relationships with people in your year and are looked after by the amazing staff on campus. Throughout the covid lockdowns, all the students have stuck strong and have been so determined.
Following my graduation, I am looking forward to securing a job at a local school in Whangārei and beginning my teaching career.
