“I graduated with a Master of Operations Research. I chose this programme because it built on the skills I developed during my undergraduate degree and would provide a great foundation for my career.
“I loved the freedom to choose the direction of research – it was a real change from my undergraduate degree, and I really liked having this control over my study. I chose Operations Research because it’s an exciting field with opportunities and applications in many industries. I wanted a flexible degree that gave me a lot of career options and didn’t restrict me to a certain field or job.
“My thesis identified the key mechanisms that drive the high electricity prices in the New Zealand Electricity Market, with an aim to develop a demand model that could be used to determine when an increase in prices will occur.
“I’m currently working as a consultant at Broad Solutions Ltd, which provides consulting services to large corporates and SMEs in New Zealand and internationally. We provide services in a variety of sectors including oil and gas, electricity, metering, telecommunications, forestry, insurance, transport, and medical software.”
