Professional development

Studying with the Graduate School of Engineering opens up opportunities for professional development with targeted workshops created in line with industry demands.

Workshops

We offer workshops that aim to enhance your academic performance and employability post qualification. These fall into a number of different categories including skills based workshops around leadership, communication and presentation, resilience and self-optimisation. We review these annually to ensure we are keeping up with student and industry demand for specific skill sets.

Once you are a student with us, you will be invited to join our Canvas community page where all of our professional development seminars as scheduled, as well as other support services provided by the Graduate School of Engineering.

Research assistance

Our Research Project Mentor has scheduled drop-in hours to assist with courses that require a research component. If you’ve never written a research report before, this ongoing support is offered throughout your programme and can help you with the structure and presentation.

Your supervisor will be your main source of support for any questions you have about the academic content in your report, effectively giving you two support options while you study.

Student support

Initiatives like our Postgraduate Buddy Programme can help you settle in to study life here. There are also opportunities for events such as campus tours, welcome events and other social occasions to create a lively community environment.
