The inflate study

In collaboration with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, the inflate study aims to deeply understand the upper airway.

About this research study

The study involves scanning the upper airways using MRI, a safe imaging technique that allows 3D reconstruction of the upper airway anatomy.

The study will help us understand the impact of noninvasive ventilation on the upper airway and improve 3D airway models that will support the development of our products.

What's involved?

  • 2 hours of time
  • Up to 90 minutes of MRI scanning (with breaks)
  • Up to 45 minutes of noninvasive ventilation (with breaks)
  • Measurement of your upper airway resistance (noninvasively)
  • Travel to the Auckland Radiology Group facility in Henderson can be provided (via Uber)

Eligibility criteria

  • 45+ years or older
  • Do not have any metal implants
  • Do not experience claustrophobia
  • No history of lung or upper airway disease
  • Not currently or suspected to be pregnant
  • No cold, flu or congestions symptoms in the past 3 days prior to participation

What you will receive
