The following Architectural Media elective course options are only available for those people who are studying a Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS). 

Places in each elective are limited. Once all places in a specific elective are taken, then it will be full and you will need to choose another elective. 

ARCHDRC 303 - Elective Study - Freehand Drawing

  • Course description: The examination, through penetrative seeing, of the basic structure, form, tonal colour and textural elements found in the environment and the development of these awarenesses in knowledgeable graphic communications with an emphasis on perceptual expression.

ARCHDRC 304 - Elective Study – Introduction to Architectural Photography

  • Course description: An introduction to architectural photography and photography techniques.

ARCHDRC 370 - Elective Study – Flood with Images: Practices of Interiority

  • Course description: The course involves the production of drawings that explore conditions of interiority. Based on a study of paintings and drawings, and utilising a range of media, exhilarating new work will be produced. Students will become conscious of the spatial and political effects of technique, materiality and composition.

ARCHDRC 371 - Elective Study – Detail in Architecture

  • Course description: This elective aims to develop students’ conceptual, critical and analytical understanding of detailing. Through a week by week series of detail studies, the course will aim to develop skills in the resolution and communication of details, while also identifying opportunities for detail innovation.

ARCHDRC 372 - Elective Study – Digital Operations in Space

  • Course description: The course will introduce methods and technologies for digital operations in space. This will include 3D scanning and spatial tracking, spatial operations and robotic assembly. The course will explore different digital tools, which are available at the School’s Open Media Lab, and will investigate their potential for the design process and the construction of architectural space.
