Engineer solutions for a better tomorrow
Engineering underpins every aspect of our daily lives, from nanotechnologies in food, fabrics and smartphones to awe-inspiring skyscrapers and intriguing medical robotics.
Our students and staff energetically pursue technological solutions to global challenges. A Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree will prepare you to problem solve and innovate no matter where you take it.
Engineering workshops
In the second year of your BE(Hons) programme (Part II), you'll complete a 30–40-hour workshop, providing hands-on experience with tools relevant to your specialisation.
This course – 299 Workshop Practice – provides you with the opportunity to become confident with new tools, equipment, and techniques for creating physical objects and mechanisms in a variety of materials. It empowers students to apply this experience in internships, the workplace, and projects while they study.
Practical Work
Practical Work (ENGGEN 499) is a core component of the BE(Hons) degree. You are required to complete 800 hours of practical work that is related to your specialisation.
Practical work is one of the key components required by Engineering NZ (Washington Accord) for accreditation, and contributes to our legacy of career-ready graduates.
Final Year Project
The Final Year Project allows you to draw on the theoretical knowledge and skills acquired over the course of your programme, to tackle a significant problem in a similar way to how you might approach it in your professional career.
