Congratulations to Dr William Cheung, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Property, for winning runner-up in the Early Career Research Category in the inaugural Inter-University Research Translation Competition held at the Business School on 7 May 2021. The Research Translation Competition awards the best translations of academic journals into 700-word papers that are engaging and easily understood by non-academic audiences.

Dr Cheung’s submission, A sustainable housing ladder: The entry and exit affordability of shared-equity homeownership, explained research findings on entry, and exit, affordability of shared equity homeownership policy. The paper was a translation of Entry and exit affordability of shared equity homeownership: an international comparison written with Professor S.K. Wong in the International Journal of Housing Markets and Analysis.

This award helps promote the relevance of property research to external stakeholders, makes our research more visible to the public and hopefully imposes an impact on government housing policy.

The competition was co-sponsored by all eight of New Zealand’s Business Schools and featured 36 entries, nine of which were from the University of Auckland Business School.
