Salary (hourly rate): From $25/hr - dependent on skills and experience

Hours: 5-10 hours/week

Duration: 3 months

Location: Online

Job Description: Field/s of study for the role: Faculty of Business and Economics

We are looking for a student with strong research, analytical, and communication skills, and a genuine interest in business strategy, innovation, and market validation.

Students with strengths in marketing, business strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, agribusiness, or commercialisation would be especially well suited to this role.

The ideal candidate will be curious, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a startup environment where they may need to take initiative, work independently, and contribute ideas.

Key technical skills include the ability to carry out market research, competitor analysis, customer or industry research, and desk-based commercial research. The ability to gather information, identify patterns and insights, and present findings clearly in written summaries, reports, spreadsheets, or presentations will be important. We are also looking for someone who is confident using common business tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and online research platforms.

Experience with analysing market trends, comparing business models, mapping competitors, or supporting go-to-market thinking would be valuable.
In terms of personal qualities, we value curiosity, initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and a willingness to learn.

A strong candidate will be organised, reliable, open-minded, and interested in solving real-world problems.

An interest in startups, sustainability, food systems, Agritech, or the fresh produce industry would be a strong advantage.

What you will do: The intern will support ZEDLAB with business research and strategy projects on market and commercial opportunities for our technology.

The role will involve tasks such as market research, market validation, competitor analysis, customer and industry research, and exploring possible pathways to market.

The student will be asked to research companies working in pre-harvest and postharvest technologies to identify key products, target customers, and similar business models.

Other tasks may include summarising industry insights, mapping market trends, helping prepare research findings, identifying potential partners or customer groups, and contributing ideas to support commercial strategy.

Depending on the student’s skills and interests, the role may also include desk research, preparing presentations or reports, and supporting broader business planning activities.

This is a hands-on internship in a startup environment, so the student will have the opportunity to work closely with the founders, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain exposure to real business challenges in the agritech sector.

Closing date: End April 2026
